MA is designed around vessel-specific engineering context rather than a single vessel type. What differs is which question comes first.

Pilot and harbour craft

Short, hard runs, many times a day, in whatever the weather does. The first questions are about the engines and the crew: what each run costs, what slamming is doing to hull and people, and which engine is drifting from its twin.

Inland waterway and river fleets

Long distances, shallow water, thin coverage and a shore office a long way from the vessel. The gateway holds what it reads when the link drops and sends it when the link returns; the questions are about machinery between overhauls and fuel by leg on a river that pushes back.

Tugs and workboats

Bursts of full power, long stretches idle, and run-hours that set the maintenance calendar. The questions: what the job actually cost, how much of the day was idle, and whether the towing load is showing in the machinery.

Ferries and passenger craft

The same crossing, many times a day, so the vessel’s own history is the sharpest yardstick. The questions are about consistency: fuel per crossing, motion and comfort in the conditions met, and early warning ahead of a scheduled service.

New builds, for designers and yards

Before the vessel exists. Design assumptions become the reference the vessel is judged against in service, so the yard sees how its design performs and the operator sees deviation from what this boat, specifically, should do.
